Will the current peace process in the Middle East yield lasting results?
By Mona Gallagher
Israel is a tiny sliver of land in the Middle East with enemies on every side. Hamas attacks from the Left Bank and Hezbollah from the North. alQaeda leader, Osama Bin Ladin stated recently that dealing with Israel is a priority and Iran wants to "wipe Israels name from the map."
Israeli talks with Syria amount to placing a band-aid over a gaping wound. Internal problems in Israel with charges of corruption against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert do not add confidence to talks, but even if the talks are successful, they address only one small threat.
Imagine the game of Risk, a game board where the object is to conquer the world. The Middle East is carved up between Iran and Hezbollah with a presence in Syria and Lebanon. Certain Arabs support and fund Hamas. Both terrorist cells are committed to Israel's destruction. Sitting down to talk appears to be a delay tactic by Hezbollah.
Iran is pursuing nuclear weaponry and solidifying its base in the Middle East. Ahmadinejad has made it clear that Israel should be destroyed and Hezbollah, whom Iran supports, is sworn to see that it happens. There is no need to rush, Iran can play the waiting game with nothing to lose and everything to gain in nuclear weapons.
The fact is, Ahmadinejad wants the annihilation of the United States along with Israel and said so in 2006. Israel may be the appetizer. So far, he's laughed at the sanctions imposed on Iran by the UN and thumbed his nose at the global community. Time is on his side.
On the Palestinian side of the threat, US Presidential candidates are talking up their support of Israel, but some of it is pandering in order to get the Jewish vote. The background of one of the candidates shows he hobnobbed with pro-Palestinian friends for the past 20 years.
If he becomes President of the United States, the level of support for Israel could fall dramatically. The Supreme Court recently gave terrorists and enemies of the United States the right of habeas corpus and a safety net to embolden them to continue on their planned course. Times are becoming perilous on many fronts.
Is Israel preparing to attack Iran? The BBC News believes Israel is making trial runs and exercises preparing for attack. What would it mean to the rest of the world? Those are hard questions to answer. Israel is strong in resolve and is not afraid of public opinion.
Many of us attempt to make sense of this dilemma by consulting prophecy about Israel and what is predicted for her existence. Although, I don't pretend to understand the time frame for these events, I do understand that God has promised to fight for Israel. In the end, there is victory.
The peace talks are a temporary measure and God has the last word. Who can stand against him?

Your theory could fit this prophecy. Plus it appears that Russia, a leader from the north will damage wheat and barley at the Third Seal of Revealtion.
