Is the Antichrist Close to Coming on the Scene?

Right now everybody is worried about the fragile economy but what would happen if Barrack Obama is elected president and the financial crisis ends and the economy recovers? You might say that this is the dream of the Democrats and the nightmare of the Republicans?

Lets think through this though. The democrats as well as the rest of the world would see Obama and liberalism as the answer regardless of whether they were actually responsible. The economy will likely recover over the next four years regardless of who is president.

Now lets say that Obama “talks” to the Iranians and gets them to act just like North Korea did when President Clinton negotiated with them. Kim Jong Il and his leaders told Clinton that they would not make nuclear bombs in exchange for certain incentives. And then surprise we find that they really didn’t stop at all. In the meantime though they have helped Syria and Iran and who knows who else develop nukes. So at first, Obama would again look like the hero while Iran secretly gets stronger and helps their terrorist allies develop nuclear capabilities.

Now let’s take it a step further and Obama quiets the North Korean situation yet again, at least temporarily, maybe even permanently because North Korea may have already achieved it’s objective without us even knowing that the objective was to help other evil regimes in return for who knows what.

So the world is recovering economically and the US as well as the rest of the world are thankful to Obama. Obama has also stopped the Iran crisis and the North Korea crisis. I’ve said before that I don’t think Obama is the Antichrist and I still don’t but this scenario does leave him sitting pretty and it’s a situation that the Antichrist could easily begin to manipulate the world from.

This is all speculation and a lot of speculation at that, but let’s go a little further. Recently we have learned that Colin Powell has endorsed Obama and Obama has said that he is interested in having Powell serve in his administration if it was a good fit. Now could you imagine what it would look like if Colin Powell were to become his secretary of state and head a new initiative to bring peace to the Middle East? Powell would be respected by liberals and the world over for seeing the error of his former Republican ways. Libyan president Mohmar Khadafi has said he respected Condoleezza Rice because she is African and black. Would he and other Middle Eastern leaders respect even more a minority president and a minority SOS working together to bring peace to the Middle East? On top of that a minority president who many in the middle east (including Khadafi) see as a Muslim despite Obama saying he’s a Christian?

So if Obama were to save the world from financial disaster and solve the insolvable Middle East peace process bringing “peace” to a troubled world, how would he look? Despite Obama’s joke at a dinner recently where he said “despite what you may have heard I was not born in a manger”. He would sure look like a modern day savior, the kind the world wants too.

Now let us take a look at why Obama wouldn’t seem to fit the role of Antichrist. The biggest one for me is that he seems to have made so many mistakes and gaffes and you would think that the Antichrist would be very smooth. However just to play devils advocate maybe this could all be part of the plan to make an Antichrist not appear too smooth as the world might be suspicious. What Obama gets for his gaffes is that the media gives him a pass and looks the other way.

Another reason Obama wouldn’t seem to be the Antichrist is that America doesn’t seem to be found anywhere in prophecy. Though I tend not to believe it some people believe that America is the Revived Roman Empire.

Wouldn’t almost everyone but the elect also fall for the Antichrist? Maybe, but it is hard to fool everyone. It seems like no matter how good someone appears there are always those who don’t like him or her. Maybe the Antichrist will at first be universally loved or maybe there will always be some percent of the population that aren’t even Christians that will never fall for the Antichrist’s lies. For example more than just Christians are against abortion. Now no matter what position the Antichrist took he would make some group unhappy. Perhaps though the Antichrist will speak with such a gifted tongue that he will appear to take both sides. Perhaps, but maybe he will work to assure both sides that he is working for both their causes in a new way despite his background.

Anything is possible, Barrack Obama could be the Antichrist but at the moment that seems unlikely, he could however also be a type of Antichrist or a type of forerunner to the Antichrist.

It really is hard to speculate how exactly the Antichrist will come on to the world stage and how precisely he will fool people. We should look at the scriptures however and be on the watch. Daniel 8 & Daniel 11 could be discussed at length but should be read carefully to gain understanding. In particular these two chapters may hold the keys as to what to look for when the Antichrist first comes on the scene.
